Ps. from another viewer: It is also a highly "English" version though taken from the Welsh legends, the Welsh are poorly treated here, very English that, and the view and roles for the women are all in the worst traditions of meanness, fear and disdain,as they are portrayed as either twits, victims victimizing There is no dignity nor respect for older women, only hatred and fear, the old meanhearted viiews..or, if a woman is stronger, and independant, she is always portrayed as evil, better dead..Far far from the true Cymraeg (Welsh) traditions but solidly in the English views and betrayals throughout. I expected much better. The only relationships treated as Good ones are , surprise, bewteen men. Racial stereotypes are all over the place also, of course, in the minor roles, as is the implication that the class system is, we all know, the really only way to live..etc etc etc
The only good thing, beyond the great sword fighting, whch I do enjoy, and beautiful scenery--though that also they mostly shot in France and then treated the great French legendary Tristan and Isolde as petty smugglers...
s that for the major characters they have played with the racial stereotypes in a good way that will open people's minds. Kudos for that.
